Our Story

About ACFBI

Born from the lived experiences of food-insecure students, the African Campus Food Bank Initiatives (ACFBI) is Nigeria's emerging campus food bank NGO — built by students, for students. Powered by The Unmute Foundation.

How We Started

From one student's hunger to a continent-wide movement

The African Campus Food Bank Initiatives (ACFBI) was founded when our founder noticed that several of the highest-performing students in their faculty were quietly skipping meals to afford textbooks. The issue was invisible — silenced by shame. They decided to unmute it.

Established in 2026, ACFBI is a structured campus food bank programme designed to operate across Nigerian universities. Powered by The Unmute Foundation, we are committed to ensuring no student goes hungry while pursuing their education.

We are a registered NGO committed to the belief that no student should be forced to choose between eating and learning. ACFBI is our flagship campus food bank infrastructure programme — and it is growing.

What We Stand For

Our values

Dignity

Every student deserves food access without shame or stigma. Our process is private, respectful, and student-centred.

Impact

We measure success by meals delivered and students retained in school — not just by funds raised.

Transparency

We publish our impact data openly. Donors and supporters can see exactly where every contribution goes.

Community

We are students, volunteers, and campus partners working together. This is a movement, not just an NGO.

The Team

Meet the people behind the mission
